Granada’s world-class location, protected by the imposing Sierra Nevada and just a short distance from North Africa, makes it a strategic place to dominate this area of the Mediterranean and, of course, it has been coveted by many civilizations throughout history. We are clear that for more than 700 years the city of the Alhambra lived under a Muslim caliphate (with intermediate periods in which it was divided into taifa kingdoms and other invasions such as the Almoravids and, later, the Almohads) until it crystallized into what was later called the Nasrid Kingdom of Granada.
This domination until 1492, the year of the expulsion of the last Muslims from the Iberian Peninsula, left the entire city imbued with Islamic culture in the squares, streets, mosques, cármenes of the Albaicín and, of course, in the majestic Alhambra. Many of these monuments, such as the Alhambra or the Albaicín district, have been declared World Heritage Sites by UNESCO.
With this guided tour of the Alhambra you will also be able to see lesser-known places and monuments, although they have the same charm and fascination. These are blurred in the Albaicín district, so you will be able to access two experiences in the same tour. There are two periods: the first includes the visit to the palatine city of the Alhambra and all its spaces. This includes the Alcazaba, the Nasrid Palaces, the Generalife, the Palace of Charles V and the Mosque Baths.
Once this is done, the second part of the tour takes place during the afternoon hours. Then the visit to Plaza de Santa Ana begins, where we can find the monuments El Bañuelo, the Morisca house Horno de Oro or the Palace of Dar al-Horra, the last residence of Aixa, the mother of Boabdil the Younger.
Book your tour with us now and immerse yourself in the Nasrid period of Granada. We have daily reduced tours to discover the most emblematic places to understand the history of a city with so much to offer.
